Hot Potato Harvest

Hot Potato Harvest is a printable card game for 2+ players. Plant vegetables, harvest crops and hide your precious potatoes from greedy farmers. Test your memory and bluffing skills as you work to protect your own crops from weather and sabotage, while mercilessly uprooting your opponent's carefully tilled fields.

### GAME MATERIALS: ###
- One weather deck
- One deck of seed packets (veggies AND potatoes shuffled together)
- One season spinner
### GAME SETUP: ###
- Separate and shuffle the two decks, and place them face down somewhere accessible to everyone.
- Deal 11 seed packets to every player. Each player plants six of them on the field in two rows of three, and keeps the other 5 in their hand.
- Whoever grew up closest to a farm gets to go first. Alternatively, play rock/paper/scissors or something.
The game starts in SPRING
### START ROUND ###
- Draw a card from the weather deck. Weather effects take effect IMMEDIATELY and last for one round.
- Advance growing season (unless prohibited by weather card). Spring -> Summer -> Fall and back to Spring. Use a token on the Season Wheel to keep track.
### START TURN ###
FIRST:
• Sow: plant 2 seeds. You can have at most 9 cards in your field at a time (in a 3x3 grid)
- or -
• Reap: turn over a card on your own field. You can only turn over cards that match the current season. If there are three matching face-up cards (season), you may make a harvest and stack those cards to one side.
- During"Mixed Season" you may reap a card of either season (spring/summer, summer/fall, fall/spring)
- During “Perfect Season” you can take up to four actions in any combination (e.g. sow 3 and reap 1)
THEN:
• Gossip: Ask a question of another player
Valid questions are:
- Which of your cards are <COLOR>?
- Which of your cards grow in <SEASON>?
- or -
• Till: turn over a card on another player’s field
- If potato: they lose the potato
- If sweet potato: they keep it and the cards to the north, south east and west are all turned over as well.
- If other: they keep that card
- If you name the SPECIFIC card before turning it over, you get to put it face up on your own field. Otherwise, your opponent gets to take one of your face up cards OR sow a new card of their own.
LAST:
Draw enough cards to get back up to five. Your turn is over
MISC:
- If you run out of seed packets shuffle the discard piles
- You can treat ANY potato as green when harvesting. However, that potato is now a POISON POTATO, and is worth no additional points. Turn it face down in your harvest set to show this.
### END GAME: ###
The game ends when you run out of weather cards.
Points are awarded to existing harvests as follows:
+1 pt per completed harvest
+1 pt if all three cards in the harvest share a color
+1 pt for every potato in the harvest
+5 pts if the harvest is all potatoes
